SJR Another Learning Experience. I bought SJR having seen a steady climb up to $12 from a low of around $6 in October 2002. A bit of backsliding was expected, and I bought on the dip.
Looking back, I see now that this wasn't the wisest move. Yes, it might have taken a short breather and then continued onward and upward. What I failed to take into account was that this was the second time it had approached the $12 level. It would have been more prudent to wait and make sure it was going to continue past that level, rather than assume it would.
SJR is one of the last stocks I've bought at such high prices. Although I wasn't particularly conscious of it, I may have held on to it much too long because of the amount of money involved. I now look for stocks in the $5-$8 range.
