ABV is a Brazilian brewery.
With hindsight, I can say this was an astute purchase. At the time I bought ABV the stock was trading in a "triangle" of higher lows and lower highs. The theory is that this narrowing price range increases "pressure" and prices will usually break out rapidly from the triangle (although there are no guarantees which way the break will go). And so it was with ABV, breaking out in mid May to my enormous delight. I'll drink to that!
This was one of the first stocks I bought with a modicum of good rationale and that actually made a definite breakout. As a result, I really didn't know what to expect. I got really nervous as it shot up and then fell back twice, so after the second spurt in April, I took my profits and bailed with a tidy 30% profit.
Looking back now, I see that I could have, should have, held on for another month. The signs for a continuation of the rise were there, I just didn't know enough to see them.
Viva cerveja! (I hope that's beer in Portuguese)
