October!
Already?
1-Oct-06. How can it already be October? I haven't done my spring cleaning yet!
Fall is definitely in the air — the nights are blissfully cool (sometimes downright chilly) and the skies are clear (most days) and humidity is low. Life is good.
On the other hand, when I look back at my list of resolutions for 2006, I see that much still remains to do:
• The Christmas letter, if it ever gets finished at all, will barely be on time for this Christmas, rather than just fashionably late for last Christmas.
• The 35 extra pounds have been frustratingly persistent. So far, only 15 of them are gone. My fat cells cry out pitifully, "Feed me, feed me, feed me!" and I am all too often helpless to resist their plaintive cries.
• All but a few of the Sunset magazines remain in their moving boxes, still unclipped. But I have started the recipe section of my website with a few of the "keepers." The problem is, I keep saving recipes faster than I can cull them.
• I did, however, replace all the smoke-detector batteries after being driven crazy one day by constant chirping. To my chagrin, the chirping continued after all the batteries were replaced. It was only then that I discovered it was my cell phone doing the chirping, in want of recharging.
• Then there is the matter of giving George W Bush the benefit of the doubt at least once. That one will be impossible to fulfill -- W has proved beyond any shadow of a doubt that he is untrustworthy.
